a taste of home (style)

My wardrobe selections have been rather boring lately.  I have not given up posting my daily fashion choices permanently...just for a week or two.

Meanwhile, I'm thrilled to have found these two white pitchers to add to my white pitcher collection.  They were at my favorite thrift store this week.  (That's a photo of my paternal grandparents in the back.)
Many of the pitchers sit behind the windows of this golden oak cabinet--one of the earlier pieces we acquired in our married life.  It was (literally) found in pieces and rebuilt by my husband.  It has survived many cross-country moves and found a place in the many homes in which we have lived.
On top of the cabinet currently:
A swan and crow, two pieces of my Pfalsgraph pottery
& a white Christmas poinsettia.

  1. Lovely! Thanks for sharing. I love white pitchers too...and white tea pots. So pristine on a table. Do you use your any of your pitchers for daily use? We don't use milk regularly here, but I love to see whole milk poured from a white pitcher.

  2. I love your collection of white pieces and they look wonderful in that 'found' cupboard. Your DH did a great job putting it back together.

  4. Bookie, I don't use them for every day - not because any are so precious....just because I don't. I pull one out for pancake syrup occasionally and if there is a guest(s) for breakfast, I DO serve the milk/cream in one...

  8. I just read today in a home living/cookbook about making a house homey .. and a designer/decorator said instead of buying three similar items to display, buy two and use something personal .. a picture or a seashell .. for example .. it makes a home personal. Nice collection!

  9. Love that cabinet! I also have a swan on top of my hutch...someone Bob used to work with was "getting rid of stuff" and I got it for FREE. I've often wondered what it might be worth...guess we have a "reputation" lol...

Yes that display is really attractive!

  10. I'm going to dig out a photo of a similar looking cabinet that used to be my Grandmother's. I came very close to "inheriting" it but my aunt recently decided to leave it to a cousin. I remember it held grandma's depression glass...
