snow day projects

 Home-bound yesterday meant projects...
like bread-baking,
tweaking the painted mattes of these
soft-blue vintage pictures,
and adding a few more touches to the dollhouse.
Thrift store and garage sale finds for me
usually require some type of repair or finishing touches...
and there's No Day like a Snow Day for getting them done.

  1. Oh boy! A peek inside the doll house is just what I was waiting for. Looking good. Hope you stay warm, such cold, cold temps in much of the US.

  2. It's even 'cold' down here in s.e. Fl. I feel like making soup, bread in the bread machine, and doing some home caring too.

That doll house is quite the great little project. Are you going to sell this?

  3. Looks like you have projects to keep you busy in this cold weather. The doll house is going to be amazing! Can't wait to see it when it's done.

  4. I can almost smell your bread! We are trying to be good on food, but it is boring. Soup is the word! And again and again.
You asked on my blog about reading...I was reading an old Anna Quindlen book...Object Lessons...coming of age novel set in Irish Catholic family of 1960s. Good. Also working in Harvey Girls, non-fiction about Fred Harvey and his businesses with Harvey Girls on the Santa Fe railroad. So good I could hardly put it down. Now start books on Georgia O'Keefe...one is cookbook. She cooked mostly from her own garden and cooked like she painted...plain and simple and different. Sun out today and it has reached 23!

    1. Hmmmmmm. The Harvey Girls and Object Lessons both sound interesting....
Our small town cafe was open and we ventured down to road. I enjoyed French fries, slaw and a "gourmet" grilled cheese sandwich. We've had lots of soup here, too.

  6. Happy New Year! And I notice a change in your blogpost name, so Happy Belated Birthday! Don't know how late I am with that greeting, but best wishes anyway. Linda@Wetcreek Blog

  7. Do you love your breadmaker?
I have considered getting one. I love homemade bread, and I think this would be a wonderful way to make it....not even mentioning the smells that must waft through the home as it is baking. Yumm.
Love the peek inside the dollhouse. The closeup makes it look as though it is a full-sized home/room.
    Wonderful!
    Hugs and love,

    1. I do like the breadmaker. It many years old now but works for us! We're not big bread consumers, but a loaf of homemade goes very, very quickly :) It's a real treat. And yes, it DOES smell good.
