simplfying continued

Rusted, torn and weathered,

these four chairs barely survived the winter.

Looking at them, I realize we were simply NOT going to apply

the work necessary to restore them to an attractive state.

So I listed them on a few local facebook garage sale sites.

Within an hour, they were sold and on their way to a new home

My simplifying continues.

Wow!  Does it ever feel great!

parting with some pots

 These pots wintered on our front porch.

Today my husband power-washed the porch, so I brought them inside to wash

off the accumulation of winter's dirt.

I guess I didn't realize I'd collected so much enamelware.

(I have even better pieces that these inside.)

At any rate, I decided to list them on a local garage sale site

to see if I can sell them.

Reluctantly.  And cheaply.

It's time.

how the ball bounces here

 The time frequently comes to move a few items

out of the house to make way for something else....

or NOTHING else.

 There are a few items I've listed recently

on some local facebook pages.

 Most of them were purchased at thrift stores...

 a few at garage sales.

 They were not necessarily bought for resale, 

 and I've had my share of pleasure from all of them.

 Both the desk and the small stand below

 were snatched up quickly after being posted.

 The rest remain.  Waiting for a new home.

 I think I shall place a large, round Christmas candle on the stand below.

Just seems right somehow...

 And how I wish I didn't already have 2 rather large mirrors

 hanging already in our living room!

I will be reining in my thrift store shopping

until I've sold a few of these items.

That's just how the ball bounces here!

clearing out

I found this book last week at a thrift store.

There were 40 beautiful plates of various botanical prints.

I decided I would NOT be framing them myself 

no matter how good I thought they'd look in frames...

so I posted it on a local facebook garage sale page and it sold within hours.

 I haven't had the heart to part with the oversized book of great paintings (below) yet.

It's  FULL of wonderful pictures and great information.

The cedar chest below has been my husband's project over the past week.

He constructed a new lid to replace the original warped one

and completely refinished the rest of the chest for our friends.  (It belonged to his

now deceased mother I think they will be pleased!)

I am proud of his skills!  Didn't it turn out beautifully?

Now, confession time.  I saw the "cubby" sitting beside a trash can

on a country road last week.  We scrubbed it up and sawed off a broken divider.

That's all.  

Listed it on the facebook garage sale today,  it too sold immediately!

Now I hope to sell this sweet 1960s retro typewriter!

Its lid attaches to form a carrying case.  

Our grandchildren have enjoyed typing on it, but it's time for it to find a new home.

I'm pleased with my recent efforts to clear out several thrift store finds

(and make room for NEW ones)!
