shoes

 Since hip and knee replacement surgeries - both this year -

my footwear options are limited.

I need "sensible" and quality shoes but long for fashionable ones as well.

Imagine my excitement when I came across these at a church rummage sale this morning!

They met my personal standards (cleanliness, lack of wear, comfort, etc.),

and I look forward to wearing them soon.

how could i resist?

I found them during the last hours of a church rummage sale

in a nearby town.

They're all signed and dated (1957 & 1960).

It was stuff a bag full and pay $3!

How could I resist?

room for one more

 We were there when the doors opened at 5:00 p.m. last night

for our favorite Church Rummage.

 Usually I wait until Saturday's $5/bag sale,

but I'm sure glad I didn't this time!

Priced at only $3, I'm positive this rug runner would not have been left.

 It now joins two other patterned rugs in our kitchen/dining area.

It is an absolutely gorgeous accessory on our dark laminate floor.

the weekend in review

 Found at a church rummage sale on Friday.

 Repaired last night.

 Painted today!

 I think I'll distress it slightly before waxing it.

 These little steps might end up in our Christmas Cabin or sold on a facebook garage sale site.

 Who knows?

 Then today - though rainy and chilly - we checked out a couple of garage sales.

It was a much-needed change of pace for me

after some intense but important days of parent-sitting...

These two items will be interesting to refiinish!

The DEEPER I dig (in my closet and drawers)

 the MORE I find that was waiting for me to get back-to-size!

This morning that means a pair of jeans & a blouse with flared sleeves

and happy pattern!  

Everything thrifted years ago!

Shoes included.

 And how about this sweetly decorated cigar box?!?

 Pretty OUTSIDE and INSIDE.

Found last Saturday at the $2/bag sale at the Church Rummage Sale.

"rummaged"

 I found & quickly packed this little suitcase FULL of finery
 this morning at a church rummage sale
(one of my favorite places to shop for goodies)!

 This well-crafted homemade doll was one of the contents.

 She fits beautifully in the decorating scheme of our kitchen's dining area!

 It's impossible for me to pass up these "booties"!

Can't wait to warm my feet in them...

or maybe I should gift someone with them?!?

Thinking the covered pumpkin that I made at a ceramic shop a few years ago needed company,

I brought home this smiling companion.

 I'll recruit my husband to reapply the wings on this bird,

and it will join a small flock I already have accumulated.

 THIS is the "princess" of my finds today!

Don't you think Rachel Ashwell would be delighted to have found it?

 I like these painted-over tacks along the back of the seat so much.

I think I'll recover the seat and leave the precious pink paint "as is".

 (Oh.  I almost forgot this pair of decanters.  Not sure why I couldn't pass them up....)

 

All this for the cost of a large Dairy Queen Blizzard!

I capped  my rummaging off with all  these hangers from the "Free Box".

Surely I'll think of SOMETHING to do with them.

 I found these pieces at the same Church Rummage Sale

where I purchased the white wool sweater.

 Can you help me out with the name of this type of art?  

 I think I used to know....but I've forgotten.

  You can imagine me trying to carry the pair of brass candlesticks

AND the framed art

as I traversed the gymnasium-sized room!

 Somehow I managed to put this decorative mask under one arm

as I made my way to the table to pay!

Warm, White, Wool

    I wore my second "new" sweater to church this morning.

 Off white; wool; warm!  (I "featured" the first in my previous post...)

The price was one-half a dollar at a church rummage sale Friday morning.

  Saturday evening we hosted our Home Connection--

 a  group of friends from church--in our home.

 I composed these centerpieces for the two tables.

Just used what I had on hand--some wooden fruit, candles, pottery, etc.

Candlelight created a special, welcoming atmosphere for our evening.

I stuck a single (artificial) flower into a little vanilla jar

that I couldn't bear to throw away.

It added to the fall assemblage on our mantel.

 I believe my fall sweater wardrobe is complete now.

I'm thankful to have found this second one to add 

to others in my wardrobe from years past.

 

Enough IS enough.

and are brown rather than gray.

 I couldn't resist this wooden pair!

They were in a box of Christmas goodies that I took the time to dig through.

This piece of "naive" pottery caught my eye, too.

The price was right, and it fits nicely in my collection.

We arrived mid-afternoon.

I'm sure I missed some goodies by not arriving when the doors opened at 8:00.

Oh well.

Half a Dollar

 Friday, I checked out two church rummage sales--my favorite kind of sale...

I spent a total of $9.00.

This heavy, ironstone bowl was far and away my favorite purchase.

All fifty cents of it!
Half a dollar still has purchasing value.

It's about 9" in diameter...

It will definitely find a place in my stepback cupboard!

highway "finds"

I "spiced up" my 17 hours of travel time this past week with a thrift store shopping spree and a stop at a church rummage sale. Pictured above are the fruit of the rummage sale. I also got a small, vintage rubber/plastic white sheep. No matter how careful I was, I couldn't get a good picture of it. You'll have to use your imagination.
