what a deal

On our way home from our short getaway yesterday, we stopped at a small thrift shop that we live too far away from to visit often...By bedtime, we were this far on the baseball jigsaw puzzle I bought. It requires a magnifying glass to read all the stadium names
and other fine print.
I was charmed by this ceramic cat (even though I'm not a big fan of real cats).
The basket, pink velvet ribbon and white Homer Laughlin bowl caught my fancy, too--
along with an Arch Book - a child's version of the Bible story of the woman at the well.
My husband found 2 pair of slacks and a sweater.
We left the store $3 and some odd cents poorer!
What a deal.

eat your heart out, affordable

The name of the shop escapes, me...but anytime we travel west on Highway 24, we allow time to stop and shop at this thrift store in Watseka, Illinois.  A 25 cent rack of clothes is the first place I head to!  Last week, I found this man's overcoat with a Watseka label.

Eat you heart out, Affordable!  (Actually, anyone reading this should check his blog out.  It's one of my favorites.)
 It's long...it's classic...it's spotless...

...and I ♥ every detail about it!
Did I say "the price was right"?

"MY CUP RUNNETH OVER"!

If you look closely, you'll see how much this sports jacket was priced yesterday.  THEN take 50% off!  That's right!  Fifty cents for a jacket that fits my husband like a glove.  The colors are unique but not unattractive...

The second one, a black and white herringbone pattern, has an almost indiscernible hint of powder blue in it.

My husband suggested this excursion yesterday.  A thrift store in Bryan, OH has very limited hours and is open only two days a week.  We seldom go.  But yesterday EVERYTHING was 1/2 off.  I'm not showing everything we purchased....but here is a deco ice bucket.  It only cost $.20.

On the way to meet my husband to go to Bryan,  I stopped at Bargain Box in Hicksville, OH.  I bought 2 belts for $.25@.  I'm wearing one of them in this picture over a denim jumper that I also bought there for $1.50.  A third stop at a shop in Bryan netted me a leopard-print scarf for $.75 and a pair of maroon tights for $.25.

What a great day!  Valentine Gift enough for me.

I'm Smiling!

I'm working at it!  Smiling when I take a picture.  Elaine gave me some great tips yesterday - like "curl up the sides of your mouth and snap it."
  • Maybe I'm smiling because I really like wearing scarves now - in fact, I feel a little naked without them!
  • Maybe I'm smiling because you can't see my lined, cuffed, woolen navy blue Talbot slacks which are just a tad short for this season.
  • Maybe I'm smiling because my husband's pulse remains back to normal and because of the thrifted pocket square he wore in his thirfted jacket pocket on Tuesday.
  • Maybe I'm smiling because of the twenty-five cent round pillow I found yesterday at an estate sale!  It SO matches the tiny one next to it on my "birthday chair".

I definitely have a lot to smile about today!
