one more mirror

I'm really happy with how this panel we purchased long ago for $1
turned into a full-length mirror.
It's middle part was removed and replaced with the mirror.
It will serve as a unique top for a sofa table, I think.
Meanwhile, I enjoy the architectural impact
this wood piece has made on our stair landing,
thanks to the creative work of my husband!

mirror mirror on the wall

After gathering dust for many months (years?) in a corner of our garage,
this mirror finally found its place
above the desk in our backyard cabin.
It serves a dual purpose:  visually enlarging the space and covering
the electrical box behind it.
(The box had been exposed when we removed and sold
a different mirror that had been hanging there for quite some time.)
We just used the existing nail, so the mirror hangs a little higher
than I would have liked, but I'm not going to move it...
And yes.  It's Christmas year 'round in the cabin.

go figure

Just in from the trunk of the car....
this fine, old mirror ready for a face-lift!
 Hubby has his project now.
And how could I resist this heavy, salt-glaze flow blue plate?
 Orange tags were 1/2 price!
Go figure! (19 cents, including tax.)
Yesterday.
Two stores.
Two treasures.

recreation

Our recreation yesterday involved stops at a few thrift stores.
The Salvation Army store featured a 1/2 price sale pretty much store-wide.
It was difficult to say "no" to this charming mirror, so I didn't!
I can see it turning ANY table or desk into a vanity!

for profit

While taking in a couple of garage sales last weekend,
I found these two gems--fine enough to keep myself,
but with a hunch I could re-sell them rather quickly.
I was correct!
The satisfactory profit helps with a few upcoming graduation
and bridal shower gifts.
(I especially like the picture.  Isn't it sweet?)

how the ball bounces here

The time frequently comes to move a few items
out of the house to make way for something else....
or NOTHING else.
There are a few items I've listed recently
on some local facebook pages.
Most of them were purchased at thrift stores...
 a few at garage sales.
They were not necessarily bought for resale,
and I've had my share of pleasure from all of them.
Both the desk and the small stand below
were snatched up quickly after being posted.
The rest remain.  Waiting for a new home.
I think I shall place a large, round Christmas candle on the stand below.
Just seems right somehow...
And how I wish I didn't already have 2 rather large mirrors
hanging already in our living room!

I will be reining in my thrift store shopping
until I've sold a few of these items.
That's just how the ball bounces here!

mirrors again

Mirrors no matter how big or how small expand horizons and add depth and are one of the easiest decorating tools around, it amazes me how under used they are.  So says Abigail Ahern, a very creative, down-to-earth, and enthusiastic interior decorator who generously shares her knowledge and style on her website and blog.
Encouraged by Abigail's words, I took a photographic tour
through two rooms in our home.
As you can see, I am NOT one who "underuses" mirrors!

Mirrors definitely "expand horizons" and "add depth" around here!
ALL of the mirrors in my house were purchased at garage sales or thrift stores.
(And as you can see, I am NOT a minimalist when it comes to home style.)
Do you have a favorite mirror in YOUR house?

another mirror

This mirror was a gift from a friend.  It is VERY heavy
and measures 24"x28".
It came to me painted, dull and black.
My husband painted it semi-gloss white.
It brought out the incredibly beautiful design of the frame.
I really DO like mirrors.  I've kind of run out of wall space for them though...
These last two are a couple more already hanging in our house.
When I clicked on "mirrors" in my label category,
I didn't see them, so I quickly added them to this post.
I didn't want them to feel left out!
There are a few more hanging upstairs to add to this category, too.
But until I get around to photographing them, you might want to click on "mirrors"
in my label section to see the other downstairs mirrors.....

necklines

Necklines are interesting.... I found this sweater on a shelf in my closet this morning.  It is warm and suitable for this cold, icy day.  This is NOT a neckline that I normally wear, but it fits snugly and I'm liking it!

Unless I surprise myself and leave the house, I will not add a necklace or scarf.  I'll simply admire myself as I pass the many MIRRORS on our walls...

Do YOU have a favorite neckline?  I think mine is a "V"...
