seasonally neutral

This is pretty much how our mantel looks today.
I removed the February/Valentine stuff
and rummaged around the house for March-ware.
"Seasonally neutral" was the theme of my quest.
Seems a little too early for spring.
If I put it out there NOW,
the days just seem to drag until it actually arrives.
The chalk is there for changing out the chalkboard which hangs left of the mantel.
Everything here was thrifted.
The portable fireplace whose mantel they deck
was found complete and lying on a curb one day!

  1. Amazing how the colors of the globe and the picture go together. Good decorating eye Rebecca.

  2. The mantle looks great! Isn't it fun to change things, seasonally?

I have a mantle in the master bedroom, too, and have made garlands for each month, using vintage cards, and other thrifted ideas. I use a short string of tiny clear lights that swags with the garland. I put up the decorations with old fashioned peg clothespins, and use thin colored ribbon between the cards, etc. It is so pretty at night with the little clear lights turned on in a darkened room.

One good thing about thrifty people is we are easily, and inexpensively entertained!

    1. Your garlands sound wonderful! Picture, please..

And you're SO right! We thrifty people ARE easily and inexpensively entertained!!!

  3. I love the dish of kids chalk :)

  4. Rebecca you thrift so wonderfully! I love everything you get.

Hope to return your visit soon! Thanks for leaving a message...
