two reads

I count myself blessed indeed to have found these two "reads"
at a now-favorite thrift store!
I guess I'll leave these check-out pockets inside the back covers.
They are IN 'em to last--unless you've discovered a way
to remove them without damaging the page...
If you've never read Miss Read's books, you are missing out
on some charming, simple and satisfying stories.
I was also happy to add this tablecloth to my small collection.
It just fits the table and sports beautiful autumn colors...
The two white (Buffalo china) bowls and the creamer
were also purchased at the thrift store.

  1. A couple of my friends are big fans of Miss Read. One of these days I'll have to find out what the books are all about.

    What a perfect tablecloth

  2. I am a big fan of Miss Read and indeed even have a long time online friend who has visited Dora Saint multiple times in her home! So I was privy to photos of those visits. I have collected all the Fairacre and Thrush Green books since I began reading her about 30 years ago. What a delight to see your photo and know you enjoy her as well.

    2. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/obituaries/9198376/Dora-Saint.html I went to this link and read such a wonderful summary of her life and works! She just died last year - age 98!

Jeannie, would those photos be in blog form? Could you send me a link, if so? I'd SO love to see them.

    3. There is a Miss Read Yahoo Group which is open to anyone interested but you have to be a member to view the photographs.

    1. :) This probably IS meant to be a gravy boat rather than a creamer.....
