With the orphaned wise men and a few straggling shepherds
packed away and labeled in a Charlie Brown popcorn tin,
I fell back on a fowl display for our winter mantel.
I'm not sure there's anything new here...
probably only the placement of various birds has changed from prior displays.
The predominance of white fits in quite nicely with
our exterior scene these days!
Everything here was a thrift store purchase with (perhaps)
an occasional garage sale find thrown in.
Slowly, I'm moving into 2014.
I like your new display, Rebecca. Susan
ReplyDeleteThe flock looks cozy. I have a thing for birds too. Chickens and roosters to be exact. But your swans look way more elegant. Looking forward to your displays this winter to perk us all up.
ReplyDeleteOh.....I have roosters, too! Just you wait!
DeleteLove your fowl display. The swans make me miss the beautiful live ones we always had in our field in South Holland province of The Netherlands. We just have crows, vultures, and turkeys here out in our fields in southwest Louisiana. Thank goodness for the beautiful cardinals and blue jays at our feeders. And of course the hummingbirds in the spring and summer. Linda@Wetcreek Blog
ReplyDeleteYou have done a good job with your birds and "quackers"! And yes, white is good in January...I used to put out white silk tulip like your white flowers. (I don't know what they are!) Right now I still have snowmen about...table with navy blue and white. I am in no hurry to change further as I think we definitely not done with "snowman weather" here!
ReplyDeleteYes! If I had snowmen, they'd be out, too. (I have lots of white candles out on wooden candlesticks of all heights.....)
DeleteI love your display as I adore anything with birds or ducks. But for me right now it is about snowmen. I have collected them for years and have quite a few. I put away the ones with Christmas decor on them like wreaths, trees, etc. I found I only have three wearing just scarfs, hats, and mittens. These happen to be my favorites anyway. I will leave them out until April then it will be time to decorate for spring.
ReplyDeleteI'd LOVE that, Sandy. Not sure why I never got started with snowmen (actually it's a good thing since I have so many nativity figures, sheep, and a bunch of Santa Clauses. WAY too many collections.
DeleteLike the neutral colors for a winter display and while I do like birds my favorite is the white two handled vase.
