how could i resist?

Photos don't do these lovely, framed needlepoints justice...

I found them during the last hours of a church rummage sale
in a nearby town.
They're all signed and dated (1957 & 1960).
It was stuff a bag full and pay $3!
How could I resist?

    1. I agree. You have a great weekend, too. I had come by your blog on your anniversary post, written out a comment, and must have failed to hit the publish button. When I came back to see if you'd posted a new post, you hadn't yet. I was GOING to leave a 2nd comment on the "old" post.....but got befuddled because I couldn't find my 1st one.....got distracted and didn't leave ANY. Dear me!

  2. This is rather sad...but a statement about how life goes. During that same time period, my great grandmother was doing the kind of handwork. One of the things left is the needlepoint chair seats she made for my grandmother's dining room chairs. I have them, but eventually on the edges they wore through...and the lovely black yarn faded to a greenish black. I hadn't the heart to get rid of them so I covered right over them iwth uphosltry fabric. I know they are still there when I sit down! You got some lovely pieces and price was right!

  3. I can't resist this kind of lovely needlework, either. I know how many hours were spent making them so beautiful. Hugs, Linda@Wetcreek Blog

  4. Quite lovely, Rebecca. Do you think they were all done by hand? Lots of human hours invested there, if they are. Nice find! Good job.

Thanks for your visits to my posts. Love them! Susan

    1. Hi, Susan! Yes. They were all done by Hazel Radkey in either 1957 or 1960 according to the signature on the back. Isn't that amazing?

  5. So many hours of work went into these pieces. I'm happy to know you rescued them.

  6. I was thinking the same thing as Darla, the hours of work that were put in to making these lovely pictures makes this an incredible buy, the age they are adds to it! Of course you couldn't resist!
