It's been a busy day around the house today.
My husband completed the refinish on the kitchen cupboard that we found
at an estate sale last week.
I wanted to move it into the house and contemplated placing it
where this mirror and mantel stand.
In the end, I couldn't do it! I think it would have made the space too "close",
I couldn't think of anywhere else to put the mantel and mirror,
and I wasn't ready to sell them.
Meanwhile I met a buyer for this white high chair
and another buyer for these two chairs....
A buyer for this mirror came to the house to purchase it
and somewhere in between all the coming and going, ins and outs,
I decided to move this sassy green desk from its space
and list it on a local facebook garage sale site I participate on.
The kitchen cupboard fits where it had been just fine!
So I spent the rest of the time clearing out the desk
and filling up the cupboard.
Now if the buffet (below) sells,
I should have a bit more space in the dining area of our kitchen.
I just may post the re-arrangement when it all happens.
Hi Rebecca...I think it's great your hubs spends a lot of his retirement time refinishing furniture. He always does a fabulous job. Susan
ReplyDelete'cept he's not retired!
DeleteGo to bed! :)
ReplyDeleteI did. :)
DeleteWhew, so glad you still have the mantel!!! I am glad you chose to turn loose of the green desk. Roll tops are pretty but I think they take more space than they deserved. Love that white corner you have....
ReplyDeleteI think you're right, Claudia. But the spot of green WAS a great accent in our kitchen. I was glad to see it go, but couldn't forfeit the white-ness and reflected light that the mantel and mirror give.
DeleteSuch lovely furniture pieces sweet Rebecca! You're lucky your hubs is so talented and specially caz he likes to beautify things in his leasure time!
ReplyDeleteBig hugs,
FABBY
Thanks, Fabby. And yes, I am (lucky/blessed)!
DeleteWhat a practical kitchen cabinet! I hope you get lots of use from it. Good choice to leave the mantle .. it's very charming.
ReplyDeleteWell, thank you for agreeing with me. The mantle (or mantel) isn't very practical. That's the reason I was thinking of getting rid of it in the first place. But taking away the mirror would have removed the reflection of light from the only window in our eating area - making it a considerably darker area....
DeleteMy goodness, you two are busy refinishing, painting, moving and selling furniture. Lovely pieces. I really like that kitchen cabinet.
ReplyDeleteI love your mantle with mirror over it.
Enjoy the rest of your week ~ FlowerLady
Happy the mantle is staying I imagine it adds a little something to the room it is in. It is a good thing I live far away, I would have been SO tempted by the green desk. I have no need for it and really no place for it - but did that ever stop me???

Love all the great furniture you deal in. Honestly, that kitchen cupboard has so many possibilities!
ReplyDeleteI am glad you are keeping your mantle...It is to soon for the holiday decorating to get rid of it. You could always put it in your Christmas cabin if you need to make room for it.It will be fun to see how you decorate with your new pieces.
ReplyDeleteI guess you haven't seen inside our Christmas cabin lately! I'd have to get ride of something THERE :)
DeleteLove that bright green piece!
ReplyDeleteHi my dear! The mantle and mirror is so lovely, glad you are keeping them as you are! The green desk is just so cute too! xxxx

ReplyDeleteLovely profile photo, Rebecca. Hope all is going well. Thanks so much for all your sweet visits. I love them! Susan
That's a nice cupboard and a really nice buffet. You do find the nicest things and how wonderful for you that your hubby can refinish them and then you're able to sell them. That is awesome!
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely Lord's Day!
Well, I too use to arrange the furniture according to my choice and I use to purchase all kinds of modern and contemporary furniture to decorate the house.
