missing in action

Spoons are the things that go missing at our house--
second only to socks!
(Why IS that?)
Imagine my pleasure at finding 24 mismatched ones recently
at a thrift store in Auburn, IN!
I took out 6 that most closely match a set I have
and might offer the remaining 18 on a facebook garage sale site.
Meanwhile, I think these make a lovely picture.

What turns up missing at YOUR place?

  1. Yep! The same thing here next to socks, lol! Yes sweet lady, I was just looking at a bunch of vintage silver teaspoon from my Mil and they're so pretty like yours! Have a wonderful LD weekend.

  2. Hi Rebecca....Silverware disappears mysteriously and sometimes socks.

Two will go into the washing machine and one comes out!

I'll never figure it out. Susan

  3. What a score! Not many of our spoons 'match' the original set and I like it that way. Very eclectic :)

    1. It's pretty "eclectic" at OUR house, too! (Although I did come across a set a couple of years ago for a reasonable amount and decided to "start over"....)

  4. Washing machines and dryers eat socks.
I'm not sure what gobbles up the spoons.

    1. I've dinged a few in the garbage disposal, but I'm CERTAIN that the disposal never gobbled one up completely!!! I just can't figure out where they go!

    1. I frequently come across them but pass 'em up at 25 cents apiece! So I was VERY happy to find these at THIS price!

  6. Forks do walkabout at our house. Some time ago I bought a complete table setting for 8 with cobalt blue plastic (?) handles. I really wanted the blue. I now have only 5 forks left. Oh, I do have the full complement of 8 salad forks that came with the set. Who sets the table with salad forks these days unless it is a State Occasion? Not many of those happening at our place.

I like all your pretty spoons. I may have to dig out the old silver plate and do the mix/match thing. I doubt I'll find blue handled forks at the thrift anytime soon.

  7. Now that it is just us, nothing really gets lost. The keys and the phones are the items that get misplaced the most. Fortunately we can call the phones and find them but we have never gotten into a good habit of hanging up keys.
