hunting goodwill

 Yesterday, my appointments took me in the vicinity of a Goodwill Store
in Defiance, OH.
Seldom do I shop Goodwill locally.  The prices are too high;
too much of the merchandise is new.
 But this particular store was a pleasurable exception
to my local experiences.
 As you can see, I did not leave the store empty-handed!

  2. I have heard that while Goodwill donates some it does make a profit for its owner. Do you anything about that? It rather spoiled my image. Yes, nice things. Is that soup tureen a Frankhoma Pottery?

    1. Oops. My reply went in as a comment.....Yes, I'd heard that, too. I was already avoiding the local ones for the reasons I mentioned in the post. And Yes...that is Frankoma Pottery!

  3. Yes, I heard that, too. I was already kind of "soured" on them for the reasons I mentioned in the post. And yes! That is a Frankhoma Pottery piece!

  4. You found some great things at that GW. I find that their prices here are exceptionally good, but their selection of clothing leaves much to be desired. But, I find the nicest vintage items there! But my daughter finds skirts for $1.99 at her GW all of the time. Thank you for your sweet comment on my blog today. I have been just too busy to do anything fun.
    My hubby was just voted in as pastor at a local church, and we are in training to become foster parents, so I will be busier than ever very soon.
    Have a good day!

  5. Recycling is my biggest concern. We live in a "throw away" society these days. No one I know darns socks! On the other hand, some of my relatives use towels that even our grandmothers would have thrown away. So hats off to places like Goodwill, Salvation Army, Catholic Charities, etc. who provide a clean, dry, lighted and sometimes airconditioned building to store and sell all of these recycled items to those in need and those of us who don't. But we just want a cheap deal! I am talking about myself concerning the cheap deal. ;) Linda@Wetcreek Blog

    1. Yes! Sometimes the prices in "thrift stores" here are prohibitive for those in need. I just don't understand it.

  6. My friend lived in Defiance for a short time so we went to visit. I'm always out for the cheap deal and it's often not at our Goodwill, other thrift stores do much better on prices especially on special days for seniors or a certain color tag. Our Goodwill doesn't have any special days! Anyway....you did great on your purchases! I love the painting! Huzzah!

  11. Does the swan have a place to put *things* ? Like a little doll, or an old crochet hook, or a rock?
