Of many miscellaneous "treasures" I found yesterday while checking out
thrift stores in Franklin N.C., this was the most unusual.
It cost me twenty-five cents. It took a man to figure out it was a
manual can opener. (I liked it 'cause of the wooden handle and turner.)
We tried it out this morning on a can of pineapple. It works!
I realize now it is the only item I photographed.
This excursion was unique because my brother tagged along.
He wanted to see how I conducted my treasure quests.
As it turned out, he could spend a lot of time in even
one box of kitchen utensils (not to mention at the bookshelves)!
It was a fun day.
But I also realize that shopping alone is quicker
than shopping with another person.
Do YOU prefer shopping alone or with someone else?
Alone!
ReplyDeleteBut I'm an only child and find it hard to accommodate other people....
Grocery store alone (not with hubby as he adds considerable to the food bill). Clothes shopping (alone). Home Depot .. with hubby as he has muscles and can lift the heavy stuff. ;)
ReplyDeleteIt depends on what kind of mood I am in....
ReplyDeleteIf I want to be quick & don't have very much money to spend...Alone.
Otherwise I will take "the crew"(my 3 kids...plus grandkids). 8~)
Take care,
Nancy
That's a wonderful little can opener. I love to go shopping with people, but I find that we always part once we go into a store, so I may as well be shopping by myself.
ReplyDeleteHave a good day!
Hugs, Cindy
Rebecca I prefer shopping alone! I am one of those people who looks at everything.......so people get frustrated at me.........
ReplyDeleteHi Rebecca...If a friend is a thrift store lover, like me, I don't mind going with her. But if it's someone who dislikes bargain hunting, I'd MUCH rather go alone! Glad you had fun! Susan
ReplyDeleteI prefer to shop alone, if it is a male accompanying me! If it is a good female friend, that can be fun, IF you have the same interests.
ReplyDeleteIt is relaxing to shop alone, though. You don't have to look at your watch and wonder if you are taking too long. I have also met some nice people thrift shopping, and we have gotten into some interesting conversations. That doesn't happen if you are with someone else.

I don't like to have to explain why I can't seem to tear myself away from a box or pile of something I think is interesting.
ReplyDeleteI looked at every record album today at a thrift store.....had one of the girls been with me, it wouldn't have been as much fun.
Now that's not to say that I don't want to be with my mom, sister and aunt in Kansas, shopping! We made a good memory in September at a few antique stores.........
So, I'm thinking....I like to be alone in a thrift store, but with somebunny in an antique store! My husband is a #1 Guy when it comes to this....he takes me all kinds of places and buys me jars of buttons.
Shopping alone is best for the most part. I do enjoy clothes shopping with my daughter tho but we only get a chance to do that a couple times a year.

It is quicker to shop alone, but I prefer to have a friend along. They share your joy at locating a great find.
ReplyDeleteIf it's an estate sale I like to have my husband with me....another set of eyes and hands and he knows what kinds of things I look for. Other than that I am usually alone. I would love a junking buddy, Hey Rebecca......let's go junking!!
