From left to right: My husband's current morning coffee mug, mine, the one I purchased at a garage sale today for $.25, and one I like to look at but seldom use.
I'm kind of particular about my mugs. The first feature I require is that the mug have a √ "lip" on it. I don't know another way to describe the rim that I look for. The mug to the far right doesn't have a "lip", so I just look at it and offer it to guests now and then. A √ blue and white color scheme is a second desirable feature. Lately, I've realized a √ white interior is preferable since when I'm pouring my coffee into a mug in the morning, it is sometimes difficult to judge the amount of coffee in it if the inside is a dark color. For that reason, my current mug is about to be changed out for the one I purchased today.
Speaking of "mugs"....
Do you have a favorite mug - or do you grab a different one every day?
What makes a mug "work" for you?
What makes a mug "work" for you?
Love all the blue and whites!! I use something for a while and then change. I never used to use mugs at all, wanted only true cups. Like you, I wanted just the right feel! I also want a white inside because when doing tea I wanted to see the color!
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty "faithful" to my mug. I've even been known to take it along on vacation so I don't have to drink out of hotel's styrofoam, etc.
DeleteI don't really have a favorite mug. I generally just drink coffee out the ones that with our everyday dishes.
ReplyDeleteMy hubbie has a favorite mug , it is a clear mug.
These mugs are all so pretty. I have been collecting mugs and cups for probably twenty years. I don't know how many I have now but friends and family keep gifting me with them even though I've asked them to stop. I have run out of room. I do enjoy my collection though and I use a mug for a week or so then switch to a different one.
ReplyDeleteAs for your "mug" I think it's adorable and it makes me miss you. :o(
Ahhhhhhhhhh. I miss YOU, too. Sure wish we could have at least a monthly face-to-face (or guess that would be "mug-to-mug").... I DID weed out my mugs and mostly kept only the blue and whites.
DeleteOh my I even blog about my mugs too! I also need a lip curling outward and a handle I can put all four fingers in comfortably. I don't use all four when I'm drinking coffee though. I like a colored inside, but nothing dark for the very reason you stated. The one I'm using now I picked up for a song at a thrift store, but is quite expensive to buy new. I'm always on the lookout for a new mug for my morning coffee.
ReplyDeleteI checked it out. I only need a 2-finger handle...I think I only splurged once to buy a mug at a "real" store. It was chintz patterned and beautiful. I broke it within months. I really have enough now and hardly ever am actually "looking" for one....but this one CAUGHT my eye and the price was right :)
DeleteI DO have a favorite mug. But it's missing. How does one, especially one that rarely leaves the house, LOSE a mug? I do not know.
ReplyDeleteYour new mug is adorable. I'd be jealous if that wasn't a sin.
I love my morning coffee, so when I find a LARGE mug that is white inside, and is a nice thin china, then I have found one that works for me. My current mug is one that I found at a thrift store for about two dollars and it holds 20 ounces of coffee. If I could find enough red mugs, then that would be the colour scheme that I went with, but I have not hardly ever found mugs in that colour.
ReplyDeleteI hope you're having a good weekend.
If I had a 20 oz. mug, it couldn't be fin china! I like my coffee hot and only sip it, so I'm thinking it would get cold in that large a mug. Isn't it interesting the different features we look for :)
DeleteI juse a different mug every day. I love all the colors of my mugs so I am always happy to try a new one each day. I might just have to do a post on it! thanks for the inspiration!!!

Rachael, I'll look forward to seeing YOUR "mug" post soon :)
DeleteI like a variety of cups and mugs so most all of mine are different. Some days I want my ''real'' cups. Some days a small mug. Some days a large mug. I have a blue & white one I think you'd like the looks of but it doesn't have a ''lip'' so you would not like drinking from it. It's a Spode brand designed by actress Jane Seymour. Found it at a flea market. Almost all of mine are thrifted. A few were gifts. Lately I've enjoyed drinking from a coral/orangey Corelle small mug and a sunshine yellow Fiesta mug because they are so 'Spring-like" and cheerful looking.
ReplyDeleteLove reading about and seeing all your treasures!
Marilyn, I'm SURE I'd love your Jane Seymour mug (visually)--but you're probably right about the "lip" thing...
ReplyDeleteI wonder if anyone has developed a personality analysis based on the way a person chooses their coffee mugs????
Love them all, Rebecca. Nice! Susan p.s. Thanks for all your visits.
ReplyDeleteOf course like all of your blue/white mugs. I have about half a dozen plain white mugs and usually grab one of those. I do have a favorite mug at the Mt. House though. My GD gave it to me and it says "My kitchen, My rules" on it, LOL!
ReplyDeleteDarla
Darla, I could get into all white.....
DeleteThe one at the Mt. House sounds cute.
