curbside treasure

Free...Just as we found it curbside this afternoon.
Since these pictures were taken,
my husband has cleaned off the top and applied Restore-a-Finish!
Handy little chest - and as husband says,
"The price was right!"
(I should have posted size.  It's much bigger than a jewelry
or silverware box.  I'm thinking maybe tableclothes in the bottom drawer,
dishtowels, place mats and cloth napkins in the other two???)

  1. Wow. That was a nice find, Rebecca. Wonder if it's jewelry box size. You find the darndest things. If you get sick of things, you could have the greatest tag sale! Take care. Susan from writingstraightfromtheheart.blogspot.com

  2. Wow, what a find! What do you think it was intended for? Jewelry, silverware,...??? How will you use it?

  3. I'm going to have to get out more. I seem to only see dead wildlife curbside. Now if I were in need of a fur coat, maybe...

  4. Judy, It surprised ME, too! It's been a long time since we've found anything salvageable on the curb. (In fact, I said just that to my husband as he returned the the driver's seat after stashing the chest in the trunk of the car!)

  5. What a find! I'd fill it with paper and art supplies myself.

  6. Darla, It would be GREAT for art supplies! The shallow but good-sized drawers would be fantastic for larger, flat items!

  7. The price was definitely right! Great find Rebecca. I just noticed your new background and the great story behind it. It's lovely.

  8. At first I thought it was a chest of drawers. What it sort of reminds me of is a place to store paper--like drawings.

  9. I'm a piano teacher too - and 63! :) I think I would try (it looks like the right size) putting some of my sheet music or special hymn arrangement books in this - maybe nice manuscript paper & some special pens - waiting for inspiration of your own arrangement! Perhaps you would like to paint it & stencil or free-hand Clef signs, etc. Staves w/flowers for notes? Looks like a fun item.

  10. Carolyn, what a great idea! I like it - now if only I had a space for it :)
