farewell to september

I like to have a supply of unique plates on which to place
cookies or brownies, etc. to deliver to friends on special occasions
(or for no reason at all)!
One of my friends collects cardinals.
I may hold on to THIS one (below) to give as a Christmas gift!
It's a 1974 Avon piece...
I think the dogwood blossoms are especially beautiful.
 Finding blue and white pieces
to augment our "everyday" dishware always makes me happy...
so I was DOUBLY happy Friday.
As soon as I saw the tablecloth in Halloween colors,
I grabbed it! It's good-sized and a a good feeling fabric.
It should hold up to many washings.
In the clothing department, my husband scored a pair of Sass shoes,
and I came away with this denim skirt.
It was a fine ending to September 2011.
We celebrated the 41st anniversary of our engagement (a day early)
with a lovely lunch and a successful shopping day at
my favorite thrift store.

  1. Sounds like a fine time to me, Rebecca. May your October be as great as your September. And many, many more years of wedded bliss. It's definitely a gift to be together. In these days of quick divorces, I commend couples who stick together through thick and thin. Sincerely, Susan from writingstraightfromtheheart.blogspot.com

  2. Nice treasures. Have a wonderful October and congrats on the anniversary of your engagement.

  3. An engagement anniversary - congratulations! I love the cardinal plate and what a great find in the denim skirt!

  4. Happy anniversary!!! The denim looks great on you...and of course, I love the cardinal plate!!! HOPE you have a week full of lots of sweet blessings, my friend!!!

  5. Happy Anniversary! What an achievement. I love that bird print plate, it's so tropical and pretty. x

  6. What a great idea for using the odd beautiful plate. I will keep that in mind.

  7. Nice treasures. Granny was especially fond of cardinals too. For the first week or two after she died there was a cardinal that came to sit in the faith tree each morning when I was on the front porch...

  8. How fun to find some treasures! Happy engagement anniversary to you!

  9. Your treasures are very inspiring! Especially with all the garage sales that I find myself passing through :)

Thank you so much for stopping by the cottage! I have been missing you also.

  10. Well, your husband may has scored a pair of Sass shoes, but YOU are the sassy looking one in that denim skirt! I love the plate with the Cardinal and Dogwood. I'm from MO and my mother loved her Dogwood tree (state tree) and we both loved the song and the sight of the beautiful Cardinal. I still love the Cardinal bird--we see them up this way more than we used to--I think they are migrating further north now.

  11. We love your blogs! Lovely finds!!!
