"...one of the ways I attempt to create at least a thin layer of
authenticity
is to shun holiday or theme specific manufactured
decoration."
When I read this quote at French Kissed and saw her incredible photos
I realized it expressed what wasn't quite "right" with my mantel as arranged yesterday.
It wasn't so much about the orange as the
Halloween-specific manufactured decoration.
So I'm tweeking today.
I'll also be ironing this table runner...
and finding the perfect spot for this white ceramic pumpkin that I created last year
or the year before (or the year before THAT) at a ceramic shop.

Hi Rebecca....Love all your autumn decor. Everything looks nice. Your white pumpkin is the pizazz, too. And you are right....time flies, whether you are having fun or not! ha ha Susan from writingstraightfromtheheart.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteBrilliant quote! So true... And I love that pumpkin. My mom and I did ceramics together last year or the year before (or the year before that). ;) Actually it was about 20 years ago. Gasp!!

*wool roving is what you use to spin yarn. You purchase it from a store that sells spinning supplies. Of course the easiest source is the internet and you can purchase small amounts from sellers on ETSY. :)
Excellent quote!
ReplyDeleteI love that ceramic pumpkin, so seasonal but classy and understated, unlike all the hideous plastic Hallowe'en tat in our shops at the moment! x
Such a pretty ceramic pumpkin!
ReplyDeleteYour runner is sweet. I hate to iron but just did some ironing this morning! Did you know, if you iron for an hour ... you burn something like 100 calories! No joke!
My MIL always told me that. She is almost 80 and and is still counting calories and worried about her weight. :)

Very pretty! Nice job on the pumpkin!
ReplyDeleteLove the white pumpkin!!!!!
ReplyDeleteYou've inspired me to get my autumn decorations out. Maybe tomorrow. Yours are lovely!
ReplyDeleteYour new tweek is very pretty. I love the white pumpkin, too. White just adds such simplicity and cleanness. However, I still liked your little plastic pumpkins. I try to have my house as elegant as possible, but I have places for funky things like salt and pepper shakers, funny ceramics and even 50sish pieces that I can't resist.
