My friend and I were at My Favorite Thrift Store on Monday. I had paid for my purchases and carted them to the car. I returned to wait in line with Sue. This sweater caught my eye - hanging at the end of a rack of sweaters. Actually, it was the faux fur collar that caught my eye....When it was time for her to pay for her items, the cashier pointed out that all clothes were priced Buy-One-Get-One-Free. Since she had three items, she was entitled to a free one. Overhearing this, I boldly stepped up and claimed this sweater!
I didn't realize just how "in style" I would be wearing it until I was blog surfing this morning and found a post on cropped cardis. This DEFINITELY would be considered a cropped cardi! I'm not sure if it was MEANT to be or if it assumed this shape after an ill-attempted washing....
The fit -- especially the lay of the collar -- is awkward. But the fur is detachable. And if I can't make it work the way it was meant to be worn, I shall use the collar another way.
Meanwhile...I have summer shoes to sort and store. I piled them all in the middle of my closet yesterday and kind of forgot about them until this morning. So sorting/storing is on my agenda. That's my plan. And I'm sticking TO it.

HaHa that is something I would have done, grab the sweater when I heard about the buy one get one,LOL!! It's a cute sweater and I like the collar.
ReplyDeleteYou gave me an idea Rebecca! Maybe I can make my husband feel sorry for me after my surgery tomorrow and get him to take me to that new thrift store I found!! If not I'll have to wait. It's about thirty miles from the house but oh so worth it!! Love Di ♥
Love
I think that would be a WONDERFUL way to cap off your surgery :) Yeah, this one is about that far from me, too (30 minutes). I've cut back my excursions considerably since gas prices are so high.... Thinking of you (with prayers) for tomorrow.
DeleteThat is a lovely sweater Rebecca. You really come up with some lovely items for your wardrobe.

I love the sweater and have been noticing in some of the high end shops in my city that fur collars are going to be the rage this winter. You are right in style!
ReplyDeleteWell, that's good to know (that I'm right in style)! I haven't been in a high end shop for quite a few years, so this is great news indeed.
DeleteI often buy those cardis with detachable fake fur collars for the collar alone. Sew a pretty ribbon tie at the front and you've got a glam accessory to tart up a plain dress! x
ReplyDeleteGreat suggestion, my friend! And God knows I have plenty of plain dresses to "tart up"!
DeleteCute Cardigan with a plain dress it would be cute!! or a longer fitted tee and some wide leg black trousers. ~Hope you can make it work Have fun sorting out those shoes and getting ready for winter Love Heather
ReplyDeleteHow nice it must be to be able to visualize & create these possibilities~~You're SO good at it, Heather. Thanks for the suggestions.
DeleteYou have a whole bunch of summer shoes! It is harder and harder for me to find shoes I like that fit well so my collection isn't near as large as yours.
ReplyDeleteDarla
Believe me, Darla, I got rid of a pair or two. These are an accumulation of YEARS & YEARS. Many just flip-flops....
DeleteDo you have your shoes sorted yet? LOL! I hope you got it done, for your own sake that is, it leaves you with a great feeling of satisfaction when you can look back over your day and know that you have reached your goal, whatever it was that day.
ReplyDeleteI put away my summer clothes yesterday and washed my winter skirts and sweaters and put them in my closet. I felt wonderful at days end yesterday.
Have a glorious day!
Cindy
Yes, I did, Cindy! You're right. It does bring a great feeling of satisfaction to have reached a goal - ANY goal! You worked circles around me! Well done.
DeleteHi my dear!! Hope you managed to sort out your summer shoes, I still have the odd pair floating about that need storing but i have done my clothes! Thats a cute cardigan and the black sweater in the previous post looks amazing on-love the neckline. I hope you are well and thanks as always for stopping by with your kind and lovely comments.
