poison ivy fashion
Ever since working in our yard and flower beds last week, I have been plagued by a swollen face. My left eye is almost shut in the morning. Some of the swelling goes down throughout the day, but the fiery itch goes on and on and on.
Today the Benadryl has made me sleepy and evidently a little dull of mind (I've mislaid the Alexander McCall Smith book I was trying to read)! It's late afternoon now and I'm still in my robe. I may not get dressed at all.
Not a very exciting fashion statement - but novel, you'll have to admit! I've had this robe for many, many years. It was purchased at a thrift store. I'd been looking for a long, soft chenille one for a long time. When I found THIS one, I was ecstatic!

Hugs,

Are you sure it's poisen ivy? I have had this same problem off and on every time I spend a lot of time outdoors since this past spring. I finally got a Kenalog shot at the doctor's office and it helped tremendously. It's some unknown allergic reaction. The itching is terrible. Swollen eyes, face and very itchy, including the front of my neck. I looked like someone beat me up! I totally sympathize with you. Check out the possibility of the shot...it's amazing how much it has helped. Feel better soon!!! ps beautiful robe.
ReplyDeleteGoodness, hope it clears up soon. Meanwhile, that is a great chenille robe. You don't see that fabric much anymore and once it was so popular on robes and bedspreads too.

Thanks for your sympathies EVERYONE!
ReplyDeleteI actually DON'T know that it is poison ivy, Jacquelyn. In fact, it doesn't have the typical "lesions"... Just swelling and itching.
Dear Rebecca ~ So sorry for your run in with poison ivy. I sure hope you are feeling better soon. I love your robe.

Oh, I'm so sorry to hear about the poison...if it doesn't get better, please go get a shot. Our daughter had it one time so bad that it took a couple of steroid shots to get rid of hers. Don't mess around with it on your face!!! Listen to me...I sound like a Momma...or a Nannie!! We all love you and want you to get well!!
ReplyDeleteSorry Rebecca. That is not pleasant, I'm sure. You know what? I had the EXACT robe for many years. It belonged to my maternal grandmother. I loved it and wore it out. Don't even know what happened to it. I'd do anything to find a duplicate. Have looked and looked but have never come across one. You are lucky to have found it! Looks sooooo comfy. Susan
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, Rebecca! I hope you are doing better by now. I am loving your comfy robe and Alexander McCall Smith is a favorite author of mine. Get well soon.

It sounds exactly like what I've had off and on this year...Ask your dr. about the Kenelog shot! I haven't had an episode now since I got it.
ReplyDeleteHi there-wishing you a full and speedy recovery my dear, the dressing gown is certainly a lovely cuddly long lasting bargain!!
ReplyDeleteOh, you poor thing! I hope you feel better soon!
ReplyDeleteWhat a bummer! I'm glad that you're feeling better now.
ReplyDeleteWhat Alexander McCall Smith book were you reading? My mom, sister, and I love the No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency book series. Mom and I just finished (separately) reading Tea for the Traditionally Built. We've also fallen in love with the HBO miniseries. Have you seen it?
