Nothing says "chic" like a simple white blouse... |
Fenicia, commenting on Fiona's post today said, "In the UK we are now coming into our most dramatic season. Autumn is wonderful here. Winter and summer are always disappointing! Spring is unpredictable."
I think that sums up my feelings about our N.E. Indiana seasons quite well. While I'm deliberately holding off my fall decorating - inside and out - until at least September 15th, I'm geared up for chic-ness!
I'll be checking in with Fiona daily as she posts some of her inspiring and simple chic pointers this month. For myself, I've decided to be more diligent about making daily entries in my hand-written journal. I shall assign a single word to each day and see where it takes me. Today's word is "mindfulness".
Being mindful of small details - like the cut of the cuffs of this sweet blouse - brings me pleasure. So does finding white blouses at my favorite thrift store.
One can never have too many white blouses or little black dresses, I believe.
My friend and I just had a conversation about white blouses this week! I want to make it a staple in my closet again...I need few clothes as I go nowhere! White blouses with sleeves rolled about the wrist with jeans or chinos have always been a favorite of mine for both men and women.
ReplyDeleteI agree, Bookie!
ReplyDeleteOh I love white blouses!! and what a beautiful thought to pay attention to small details that really is a blessing from above to be able to see such things ~Love Heather
ReplyDeletei so agree with you about white blouses ~ i found a very pretty one at the thrift store just the other day.
ReplyDeletei wanted to comment about your enjoyment of faux flowers. i also love them ~ they add so much to the look of the house without costing a fortune. When we first bought our home, 10 years ago, i bought a very large grapevine wreath at Hobby Lobby. Each season i change out the faux flowers that i decorate it with. It hangs on my front door and i just love it. i, too, pick up the flowers cheaply and it is so much fun to make a new look on my front door.
So true Rebecca!

I love white shirts, black dresses and faux flowers also! My only disappointment with white shirts is that they yellow or look grubby around the cuffs after a while. No amount of Sards wonder soap or soaking in Napi-san can help. That's the only thing that puts me off buying white - its shorter life than other colours. Or am I expecting too long from my clothes?

There is nothing quite like a classic white blouse in the wardrobe. I like the combination of white and black for its crispness!

That looks like the perfect white blouse. I love the sleeve length and the cuff detail. I never find any decent looking ones at the thrifts here tho.

Rebecca - I love that white blouse. I have three of them. I just bought a cute white ribbed short sleeve top at a thrift shop. I have at least three already. I also got a darling black T that fits perfectly. I figured, you can never have too many white or black tops.
ReplyDeleteI'm still working on just the right LBD.
I think you have hit a nerve (in a good way.) I love talking about clothes and decorating. It's just about my only hobby now, except writing.
What a lovely post! And much food for thought at Fiona's blog post. How mindful to have a positive word to focus on. A great idea.
